One of the best pampering that your foot can ever have is foot massage. Foot massage is relaxing, soothing and a feel of heaven for the exhausted and tired feet. It is a technical therapy full of skilled art, that you may give yourself or can have others to give it to you. Some people feel that to have foot massage yourself is not that comforting as it is to have some other person for it.
You can not start off with foot massage just like that. There are some preparations to be done before it. Here is the process by and large:
Some of the Foot Massage Techniques
Stroking
Do stroking to arouse the blood vessels of your feet and generate some heat as well. Hold the foot and start with the top surface of the foot. Rotate your thumbs giving slow strokes, beginning from toes and going up towards the ankle. After you reach to the ankle, do the same activity on the toes also. Apply little pressure on the toes. Do this activity at least five times. Perform the same technique on the sole also.
Ankle rotation
Rotate the foot gently. Begin with moving the ankle side to side gently and relaxing the ankle joint. Holding the foot’s heel in a cupping position and with other hand, hold its ball. Start rotating the foot in clockwise and anticlockwise position. Do this activity about three or four times. It will help to become relaxed from the ankle joint. It will also de-stress your whole mind senses.
Finger Walking
Envision the foot as a sequence of squares of about half inches square. Make your fingers walk in horizontal line, from one square to the next, starting from the big toe.. You can next switch over to the next line of squares. After you are done with massage one foot in this fashion, begin with the other one.
Pivoting
Hold the foot in your hand softly. With the other hand massage the sole of the foot using your thumb. Start with the area under the big toe and move gradually to the other toes. Make some pressure and then roll the thumb backwards and forward.
