Do you feel ashamed of your smelly foot in public? Has it become a major problem for you to deal with more than your professional meetings? Here are some best tips for you to get rid of it easily.
Why do feet smell?
So, why do feet smell? Well, it is all due to bacteria that feed on sweat. Bacterias are attracted towards the sweat on your feet and starts feeding on them. These bacteria get rid of waste on your feet which are in the form of organic acids. These organic acids have a strong pungent odor due to which your feet smell bad.
Smelly feet seem to be the part of daily routine for many people. Some take it seriously and some just ignore it. However, doctors opine that we can easily fight with chronic foot smell by following some simple tips and techniques.
- To begin with what the doctors say about the treatment of chronic foot odor, you need to treat this problem more scientifically. They suggest the smelly feet victims to wash their feet on a daily basis using antibacterial soap. After washing, it is important to dry the feet completely.
- Drink a lot of water. It is a better way to fight body odor.
- Do not wear synthetic socks but a clear pair of socks, made with absorbent material, such as cotton.
- Spray your feet regularly with a usual antiperspirant and shower foot powder in your shoes.
- Do not wear the pair of shoes for two days consequently.
- The sneaker wearers should interchange between two pairs to make it dry out for a while.
- While indoors, wash your feet and prefer going barefoot. Wearing sandals is also a best alternative.
- To fight off the smell, you should wash your feet with green tea. They have been confined in the overpowering construction boots all day.
- Take bath with baking soda, along with a few teaspoons of vinegar, by soothing for feet and lessens foot odor.
- Dust your feet once or twice, using cornstarch or powder.
- Take some turnip juice or radish juice and try rubbing your feet with it. Being natural deodorants, these juices are excellent mediums of fighting body odor.
- Supposedly taking a bath with some ginger for a long time helps one to sweat and rid body of toxins buy some ginger root-mash it up and use the juice and rub it on your feet.
- Paraffin treatment is another good idea to fight body odor. In this method, the professional waxes the bottom of one’s feet using the melted down cooled wax.
- Another treatment is to do without any intake of sugar and alcohol for about a week. This experiment on your body may tell you if these elements have to do anything with it.
- Buy and use some acne soap on your feet. It is a special soap that is anti bacteria and helps to fight with body toxics.
- Some may also suggest you to try eating some parsley and cilantro. Cilantro is great metal detoxifier that tastes good with chips and salsa. These may absorb the odor of your body.
- Trying out the zinc supplements is another good idea to deal with smelly feet. You may feel certain deficiency or it can be a big immune adherent.
Best Home Remedy Tip to cure smelly feet:
Soak your feet every day for a week in strong black tea for 30 minutes. Add two tea bags in a pint of water. Boil it for 10 minutes. Now add two quarts of cool water and soak your feet in the cool solution.
An acid called as tannic acid present in the black tea kills bacteria and closes your pores. This easily keeps your feet dry for a long time preventing sweating.
Treatment to cure Smelly Feet:
If the self-care and preventative measures suggested above for smelly feet don’t help you, consult a professional for further investigations. Persistency of this condition may be due to some infection or hereditary.
If the above two reasons are the cause of your smelly feet, you will be suggested accordingly for a good treatment by your doctor.
Tips to Prevent Stinky Feets
You can prevent yourself from the embaressment of having stinky feets by following certain tips. They are:
Foot powder or a disinfectant spray: You should apply a good fooot powder or a disinfectant spray. This will help to keep your feet dry and will also help to destroy the bacteria. You can also buy an additional antibacterial soap to keep it more dry and hygenic. Before wearing your socks , do keep it in your mind, that your feet should be dry. Sometime people are lazy and they don’t bother to dry their feet especially betwen the fingers and toes.
Avoid smelly shoes: Don’t wear smelly shoes. Avoid wearing the same shoe daily, as they tends to become damp and wet with sweat. Try to dry your shoes regularly under the sun after you have used. Do have a habit of wearing sandals as they don’t cover the feet much and help to keep your feet fresh and dry.
Wear Socks: Some of us usually like to wear sneakers without shoes, as it is stylish and makes us feel fresh . But its a bad practice, one should notgo out without wearing socks with his or her sneakers. This may be comfortable but without socks , the sweat of your feet stays in the shoes, making it smelly and bacterial prone. Cotton socks or woolen socks are both effective and comfortable, you can also go for anti-bacterial, breathable cotton socks which are available in the market.

my feet are so bad that i can smell them just when i’m standing. i’ve tried medicine type stuff and it didn’t work. I’ve also tried baby powder, deoderant, and soaking my feet in perfume smelling foot rub, but nothing works!

My feet never used to smell. Lately I can’t stand them myself. Even in sandals. I take a fat reducing pill, but nothing else in my diet has changed. Could it be something I’m eating? Or not eating?

Hello, which one would you rather recommend, vinaigre or green tea, for smelly feet?
and how often and how long should the treatment take place?
-I change socks every day, wear different shoes every day, wash my feet with soap every day as well, but the smell does doesn’t seem to go away-
Thanks

Hey everyone, I never had a problem with my feet smelling until a few years ago, I notice a slight odor. It wasn’t gross, or really bad, just kind of steal smelling. What I discovered, is that I was not drying my feet well enough after bathing or showers and I was constantly in water from spas. My feet began to peel, so I started using Lamisil. It worked very well. Every day I would put it on my feet where the peeling was, the peeling healed and the steal odor went a way. I also use baby oil, especially in the winters. I take very good care of my feet year around and hate that fact that my feet had a steal odor. I do my pedicures also when not at the spa. It’s important to clean under your toe nails too. I like my feet to smell like purfumes or something nice, so I also use baby power and wear foot sockings at night or just around the house. Ladies, Guys, try the Lamisil first, its expensive, but tremendously helps. Also try the baby oil treatments then put on socks afterwards. Your feet will become very smooth and soft. Do this year around. You would see the diffence in about 30 days if you are serious about keeping it up. I’m going to try the Green Tea Soak also. Good luck. Have a great summer! Dr.FP

the smell of my feet kills me, i try to wash my shoes at least once a week but it does not help and am not comfortable at public. i also tried drying my shoes before wearing and thoroughly washing my feet but to no remedy.

I got my son to use a deodorant crystal – not the commercial type, just the rock – and it has cleared up the stink, which used to be profound. Cleaning under the toe nails is extremely important as well. It seemed to be the locus of the odour.

ANother thing – scrubbing the feet with a nail brush did not work, use an orange stick or a manicure tool to clean under the toe nails.

I’ve started having a smelly foot problem in the last month or two from some sandals I have had for years that haven’t given me any problem before. The sandals are entirely synthetic with a kind of rubbery insole. The smell comes both from my feet and from the sandals. I have tried putting the sandals through the wash, but the smell didn’t take long to start coming back.
Is the problem my feet or the sandals? Would bleaching the sandals do the trick? Or should I concentrate on all that foot care stuff?
As for getting new sandals, before anyone suggests it, that isn’t an option right now for various reasons to do with money and foot size.

The smell of my feet kills me sometimes, and I hate to take off my shoes at people’s place. Thank goodness I found some help at some websites, and this is definitely one of them.

i am so glad i am not the only one with this problem. it is soo embarrasing and i am very particular about washing my feet and drying them properly everyday, then using pumice to scrub off any dead skin, then washing again. after about half an hour of wearing my socks are already starting to get wet, and i can smell it myself and i am getting so paraniod that if i can, so can others. i have been to the doctor and tried the antifungal cream and all the foot powders, anti-persperant (hydrosol) and NOTHING works. i too am looking for a solution which does not require me to change my entire lifestyle to fix this problem like the diet change and soaking everyday is not always practical either i have tried nearly everything that has been suggested on this page… also if anyone can reccommend a cream or anything that would work, would i need to buy all new shoes? as wouldn’t this problem come back again when if i started wearing them again? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS WHICH WORK

Thank you for so many remedies. One thing that comes to mind is also consider changing your diet. The less toxins you put in your body the less it will have to remove. I am starting to build a website to help with eliminating shoe odor which can go hand in hand with smelly feet.

HELP!!! My feel smell so bad..even wearing sandals in the summer everyday they still smell and sweat so bad..what can I do?
April 6th, 2009 at 5:17 am
And if all that stuff fails, try this it helped save my life, Naftin 1% “GEL” Mrz (antifungal)perscribed by a foot Dr. use it all, buy new cheap shoes or clean your old shoes nightly with rubbing alcohol so that you don’t reinfect your feet. Toss nylon or cloth shoes there’s no hope for them. Buy new shoes and slippers. Good Luck!
May 4th, 2009 at 11:09 pm
Hey Rachel…. God doesnt work for everything. Save the preaching for another website. People here would like an actual fix for something that has been plaguing them for a long time.
May 18th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
borax powder after a footsoak in bleach works wonders… really cures the problem
May 19th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
These few things work!!!
Spend at least 5 minutes scrubbing your feet clean with a strong nail brush every day. Make sure to get under the toe nails. Do this to clean away the bacteria.
Make absolute certain that you dry your feet completely after showering.
If you were sandals or thongs, make sure your feet don’t get wet. (This is the best tip)
Each morning and night, dust your feet with powder. This helps absorb any moisture.
These things have solved my long battle with very bad foot odor.
Regards
David.
btw Nicole, mocking God, Is an unforgivable sin (ref Mark 3:28), and by far the worst thing you could possibly do in your life time. God does work for everything, at he’s own discretion.
May 21st, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Hey David, keepingg your feet dry is the most important thing! But cleaning (or even powdering) my feet daily drives me to frustration. So I bought special antibacterial cedarsoles. The wood binds the moisture perfectly, just by wearing these insoles. I think it’s much better!
May 21st, 2009 at 7:58 pm
DO NOT MOCK ME NICOLE… oooohhhh…. you better be scared. Haha ya right.
May 24th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Drying your feet thoroughly is the most important point. You can support that by wearing insoles which binds moisture (sweat). in my opinion it’s the easiest way to get rid of it. I prefer using zederna cedarsoles because they are made from antibacterial cedarwood. It works very well for me.
May 28th, 2009 at 10:01 am
Hi Martin & Donovan. Thanks for the tip about the cedarsoles. I haven’t heard of them before but I’ll definately getting myself a pair.

Almost Most Of The Time It Isn’t The Feet Its The Shoes…..
June 19th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
I need help! My feet sweat right through powder and even when I take off my shoes I can feel moisture seeping through! Even by trying on shoes briefly at a store, I can stink up the whole shoe! I need an at home fix for my nauseating, revolting foot odor! PS- I also have a serios hand sweating problem. Even without touching any thing they sweat buckets! I think I have a serious medical condition…
June 23rd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
hi everyone.
i’ve read your comments and suggestions on curing smelly feet.. thanks for it, it helped me…but aside from having a smelly feet, it’s so itchy…i’m so disgusted about these…can you help me???
July 8th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
I found a GREAT product to save my nice shoes from my smelly feet! Kiwi makes a disposable insert called Freshins that absorb moisture AND fights smelly feet! They are pretty thin, so they work well in my high heels. They are available online.
July 20th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Hey I got contios of my smell wen there was a horrible smell in my class I didn’t tink it was me but now I tink it is cuz people in my grade kinda hinted to me!!
. But wat I did was wen I had free time I’d put the bath on and soak my feat in a few shower gels and water obviosly and after I’d clean under my toe nails a disgusting yellow stuff came out and it smelt really bad so I cleand it out it only seemed to be in my big toes and then I cut my toe nails and I rubbed a moisteriser on my feet
July 25th, 2009 at 1:00 am
David said: “God does work for everything, at he’s own discretion.”
Dude, that sentence doesn’t even make sense.
Also, Nicole wasn’t mocking the “almight” God in Rachel’s post, but rather the absurd advice to pray to cure sicknesses “like bad samell.”

OK. So I too have this stinky feet issue. Well not exactly stinky but somewhat funky. Big funky. I do practice proper foot hygeine. Foot powder helps just a little. I tried some other stuff but they did not produce much of a relief. Then low and behold the idea of using this particular home item dawned on me. I prepared it in a way I think that it might work and it does. So now my smelly feet s has reduced drastically. I think the funk will go totally because I have just started using this home-made item. What is it?
Bizzy or Cola Nut
In my culture we use bizzy or cola nut is the right name. It is the same cola nut that they take whatever from it to make the soda “cocoa cola”. This nut in my culture is used to absorb toxins and poisons. If a person foot got punctured by a nail then bizzy was applied to pull out the poison. If a poisonous substance was ingested then the bizzy tea was administered to absorb to poison.
Some people drink the bizzy tea maybe one or two times per week just to remove toxins from the body; which of course helps to cleanse our inside and boots the immune system. It helps me with bloating and flatuence and upset stomach. Now this tea is high in caffine so those who are intolerant to caffine should know their limits. To absorb toxins from food I drink this tea at night way in advance of bed time as it is stimulant from the caffine. I steep about a teaspoon to a hot cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Longer if I wanted it to be stronger.
NO INGESTION OF BIZZY OR COLA NUT IS REQUIRED FOR SMELLY FEET.
Since this product absorb toxins internally and externally the thought came to me to use it on my smelly feet. The dried cola nut is hard so here is what I did.
I grated the cola nut and then put it into a food processor to make it into a powder. Or those processors that can grind or powder things. If your processor is really powerful then you might not have to grate the nut first. The cola nut is tough so you don’t want to damage the blade of your grinder if it is not powerful.
After I made the powder I put it into a container with a lit . When I am ready to use it I get a piece of cotton and applied the cola nut powder well to my feet. I powdered the top of my toes, between toes and under toes and foot bottom. I also made sure that I wear cotton socks.
My feet did sweat but it was far less smelly on the first day. I am using it for a week now and I realize that my feet does not smelly anymore. My feet did not even sweat today. Another thing I do is to put my shoes out in the sun for a couple of hours when I am at home and that does help a great deal. I also pour just a litte of the bizzy or cola nut power in my shoes for extra protection.
Where can you get cola nut.
I am not too sure. You could probably try the health food store, a West Indian store or store that sells food that comes from South America.
Now I am also going to experiment with charcoal. It cannot be made into a tea but otherwise it is used to absorb toxins like the cola nut. Charcoal is in supplement form. There is one negative side to the charcoal. It is black so it will cause me feet to look real messy. Cola nut power almost looks like a shade of face powder that women use.
Well for those who know cola nut and can get it – give this advice a try and let the board knows if it worked for you.

I thank an Army Doctor for curing my smelly foot problem permanently in 1953. He had me bathe my feet daily for 2 weeks with a chemical which turned my feet purple. That’s it! I don’t remember the full name of the chemical but I believe the last part of it was “permangenate”. The Army at that time also supplied a superior foot powder that combatted itchy or smelly feet. Any Army Drs. out there who can comment further??

i have a rather long story concerning my smelly feet. but i would rather stick to the basics. i am a nigerian and the weather here does not really make it neccessary for u to be on shoes all the time unlike the temperate regions, unless u r in the corporate business. i started to stick to shoes from ten years ago when i discovred i had rather unusual toe arrangements which attracted stares whenever i had to be on any open toes. since then its been shoes all the way without proper toe hygeine(i was quite too young then to know the feet needed special care).then recently i discovered i had gotten the famous smelly feet problem. now i m been more careful about my feet but like most people it simply defies all remedy. i cant simply be without my shoes but now ihave one more thing to be embarrsed about among my unusual toe alignment and several other things i feel insecure about:SMELLY FEET.sometimes i feel like i wasn’t mearnt to be

do a collon cleans Wal Mart sels it for an afortable price, take suppliments for your collon during the whole winter season.Eat lots of frech garlic (soup)onion, a handfull of parsely a day, and kelp, do this for a whole month than take primadophilus, chlorophill and drink a glass luke warm water with fresh lemon juice first thing in the morning. When the body sends out odors its telling you to pay attention to take care of your body. You are only 15, my gallbladder erupted at the age of 17, I never smeled anyonce feet as bad as mine were. Get the book eat right 4 your blood type, its what you put in your body… Listen to your body if you want to live a healthy full life

Feet smell because of harmful bowel bacteria
October 10th, 2009 at 2:38 am
I had a very bad foot odour problem that came out of nowhere. It came and went several times over the course of 6 months or so, and was surprised at the cause. Fabric softener. Seriously!
Wash all your socks and trainers WITHOUT fabric softener and the odour should be gone.
October 10th, 2009 at 2:41 am
I have to add to my comment, it was only one of a particularly well known manufacturers range of fabric softeners that caused this problem. Others did not give me bad foot odour.

The best cure – soak your feet in a bucket with 2 tea bags every night for 1 week and you’ll be great! After that, soak them once a week every week in the tea water and it should be fine. Also, I find wearing leather shoes are MUCH better for smelly feet. Leather shoes let your feet breath so your feet will sweat less. Synthetic shoes don’t let your feet breath so the shoes build up bacteria and make your smelly feet even worse! Hope this helps. All the best guys!!
October 13th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
My son’s feet smelled so bad I made him leave his shoes outside at night.
This cure came from my sister; it is an old WW I cure. I will absolutely swear by it. I had my son pee on his feet in the shower.
It only took ONE TIME.
Plus new shoes!
Good luck!

My feet are very sweaty and very smelly. They can be smelled with my shoes on. I started using a cedar sachet in my skates and in my shoes, when I am not wearing them. The cedar obsorbs the moisture and odor. This work almost instantly.
