It is summer time…. a fun time!!! It is also the time to sweat and rest.
But please have a look at your feet!!
What are you observing. Are they not looking tanned and dry? They are either dry with over exposure to sun or are sweaty due to prolong enclosure in shoes.
In the summer season feet more vulnerable to a variety of problems such as psoriasis, eczema, fungal infections and, particularly smelly foot.
In this article we give a few tips to care your feet in summer.
Foot wash:
In summers it is important that you wash your feet more often. The reason is that feet soles have more sweat pores. The sweat should be washed away often so that there is no colonization of odor producing bacteria. Wash your feet at least 4 times a day. Be sure that after washing, you dry your feet thoroughly so that there is no chance of bacteria growth.
Foot powders:
Powders help to soak the moisture in the feet. This reduces the possibility of breeding of fungi and bacteria. There are varieties of foot powders available in market, both scented and unscented. If you do not get any, you can as well apply baking powder to the feet. This keeps your feet dry and moisture free.
Foot massage:
Massaging promotes good blood circulation to the feet. You can also have a professional foot massage every week. Apply sunscreen lotion before going out in sun. The skin of feet are subjected to sunburn just as other part of the body skin. So be considerate to your feet skin and apply lotion whenever you go out bare feet or with open sandals.
Change footwear and socks:
In summertime avoid using the same socks and shoes for prolong time. Wear clean, dry socks and change them several times. This helps your feet to be less susceptible to foot bacteria or fungal bacteria. Shoes should be changed or washed often to avoid socially embarrassing “smelly feet”.
Let the feet breathe:
It is always better to wear open sandals in summer. This allows the feet to breathe. It also avoids foot perspiration. Avoid hot, heavy boots that blocks the sweating pores which can lead to blister formation in a long run. So be choosy while wearing footwear in summer.
