Washing Tennis Shoes
Before washing tennis shoes, it is worth checking for washing recommendations given by the particular shoe manufacturer. This can help you avoid damaging your shoes.
You can start cleaning your shoes by gently scrubbing off heavy soil and loose dirt with a soft brush. You can also use baby wipes or kitchen wipes to clean your shoes.
For cleaning the soles of your tennis shoes, you may consider using an eyeglass screwdriver to remove the small pebbles. For removing dirt from your soles, you may consider using a dish washing liquid and a big brush. Thoroughly wash off the soap using normal water. Wipe your shoes with an old towel and finally leave them directly under sunlight.
You can start washing your tennis shoes by soaking them in running water. Now using a dish washing liquid, gently scrub them with a large brush. Now rinse the shoes and pat out the water with a dry towel. Alternately, you can also use paper towels to wipe off excess moisture. Finally let the shoes air dry under direct sunlight. Sunlight also helps in removing smell from the insoles.
It is generally not recommended to wash your shoes in a washing machine, but if preferred, you may consider the following technique:
Take out the shoelaces and wash them separately along with other clothes in your washing machine so as to avoid tangle.
After thoroughly removing the stains and dirt, place the shoes in your washing machine within a mesh laundry bag. The mesh bag can prevent the rubber soles from making marks in the inside of your washing machine. Mesh bag can also keep your shoes from rubbing against one another.
Finally, wash the shoes on a normal cycle and in warm water before drying them thoroughly.
