Foot deodorants help in preventing smelly feet by eliminating the bacteria. Footwear, especially shoes, can block the evaporation of sweat. Bacteria which thrive in warm, humid environments feed on the sweat, dead skin, to produce unpleasant odor. Foot deodorants act on these bacteria and prevent smelly feet.
Along with arm pits, feet are a major contributors to body odor. Some people prefer applying underarm deodorants to the feet. However, it is better to use a foot deodorant as it is better suited to solve the problem of smelly feet. Alcohol present in the foot deodorant temporarily destroys the bacteria, while other antimicrobials slow down the bacterial growth, thereby reducing bad odor.
Foot antiperspirants are products that reduce foot odor by controlling the sweat produced by the sweat glands. Some products combine foot deodrants and foot perspirants to control smelly feet.
For applying a foot deodorant, firstly wash your feet preferably with a gentle antibacterial soap. Now, dry your feet with a soft towel. Apply the deodorant in problem areas of your foot which produce odor. You can focus on sole of the foot and the area between the toes. Some foot deodorants can also be applied to the shoes to reduce the smell. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions while applying it.
While buying a foot deodorant, read the label to see if it contains any chemicals which might cause allergies. Foot deodorant is a good way to reduce smelly feet. It can give you confidence and keep you comfortable while wearing shoes.
