Like the rest of our body, the feet too need the attention they deserve and it is always better to get rid of foot problems at an early stage. There is nothing more refreshing and rejuvenating than a herbal/ayurvedic bath or massage for your tired feet.

Traditional folk remedies, foot baths, herbal massage and body oils may help reverse and heal foot sores, lacerations, cracked heels, corns, calluses, dry skin, combat bad foot odor, foot skin pealing and help restore healthy skin.

Massaging the feet each night with oil is relaxing and keeps them soft and supple. In winter warm oil can be used with sesame or mustard oil. In summer coconut oil provides a cooling effect.

For a herbal bath, make a bath sachet with herbs like neem, aloe, lavender or rosemary. Boil a pot of water for 5 minutes and immerse the sachet into it. Let it stay for about 12 hours before use. As an alternative, brew the bath at near boil temperature for about 30 – 40 min. Soak your feet in the water for about 20 minutes. Gently rub the herbs on your feet but do not scrub. Bathing salts also soften your skin.

For cracked heels, Take about three tablespoons of bees wax and mix one teaspoon sesame oil in it. Warm it a little and apply on the affected areas. Alternatively, do the following:

Take:

1 tablespoon almond oil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon wheat germ oil

12 drops eucalyptus essential/fragrance oil

Combine ingredients in a dark colour bottle, shake extremely well. To use, just rub on the feet and heels.
