Our feet carry us wherever we want to, day or night, rain or shine. They do deserve some gratitude and respect from us once in a while. After all, feet are a part of overall beauty and grace.
Pedicure is tender loving care for the feet. With the slinky shoes that are popular today exposing the toes and much of the feet, it is important that your feet look healthy and attractive.
Not everyone has the time or money to have a pedicure done at the salon. But anyone can afford to do a pedicure at home, using supplies that you already have around the house.
Here are the steps towards a ravishing pair of feet:
- The first step in a pedicure is to clip or file the toenails. The nails should be filed straight across, rounded slightly at the corners conforming to the shape of the toe. You should never clip or file into the corners of the toenails as this could cause you to have ingrown nails.
- Choose two basins large enough for the feet to rest in them. You could also use one large basin if it will comfortably hold two feet.
- Soak feet in a basin or foot bath of warm, soapy water until the water cools. This will allow the dry, calloused skin to soften.
- Remove feet from the basin and pat dry with a towel. Use a cotton swab or an orangewood stick to apply a cuticle removing solution to the cuticle and under the free edge of each nail.
- Apply a well chosen moisturizer to your feet and ankles and dust some talc between your toes.
- Apply a clear, base coat of nail polish and allow it to dry completely. Then apply two coats of the nail colour of your choice. Allow polish to dry.
Now go ahead and flaunt your feet!
