- Wash your foot twice everyday paying close attention to the affected area.
- Soak your foot in warm water at least two to four times ever day.
- Avoid wearing tight fitted shoes or high heeled shoes. Wear shoes that are open from the front and let your toe breathe.
- Lift the corner of the toenail to prevent it from cutting into the skin.
- Take a tiny piece of cotton or paper and roll it into a thin wick. Place it between the nail and skin to keep the nail elevated and prevent its digging in to the skin.
- If you have pain, take in pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
- If the pain doesn’t improve after 72 hours, visit a doctor.
