Neat and clean toenails reflect our general health. We must keep them in good shape. They must look attractive and healthy. For this, we need to keep them well trimmed, clean, dry and soft. How do we do it?
Tips for Proper Trimming of Toenails
- Dip the feet in warm water for ten minutes. Wash them with a mild soap. Dry them with a clean towel. Use a cotton ball to soak them in an anti-septic, olive oil, or tea- tree oil to remove the bacteria, which might cause infections.
- Use an orange stone or Hindu stick to push back the cuticles, which protect the toenails from bacteria and infection. Trim the cuticles that are overhanging beyond the toenails carefully to avoid drawing blood.
- Do not trim nails in a curved manner, but straight across
- Apply a moisturizing lotion on the nail margins and the skin around. Go in for foot care products rather than an ordinary cream.
- Spread tissues or newspapers while nail cutting
- Sit on the ground and then trim the toenails with the cutters
- Throwaway the dirt accumulated on the newspaper
- Cut straight across the big toenail
- Repeat in the case of other toes
Taking good care of your toenails is part of beauty care as well as being health conscious. Your feet should draw the attention of others for their cleanliness and neatness. Well- trimmed toenails have much to say about the character of the person, his attitude towards health and neatness.
