People suffering from Diabetes have specific foot problems like
- Foot Ulcers- These foot ulcers are found on the ball of the foot. Neglected ulcers can lead to open sores and a variety of infections.
- Calluses- These are the most common ailments for people suffering from diabetes.
- Poor Circulation- Poor blood circulation may swell your feet and less capable of fighting infections and other disorders.
- Neuropathy – Diabetes can also lead to nerve damage that can leave your feet too numb to sense pain, heat or cold.
- Amputation- If you do not spot and treat your foot problems at an early stage, you may have to get your foot amputated.
Symptoms of Diabetic Foot Problems
- Cracks around the heel
- Swelling of your foot or your ankle
- Pain in your legs
- Corner Calluses
- Open Sores
- Discoloration of the skin on your feet
- Change in the skin temperature
If you spot any of these problems, immediately visit a podiatrist to prevent the out break of other problems.
Prevention of Diabetic Foot Problems
- Check your feet regularly for any sores, cuts, discoloration or any other foot problems.
- Wear shoes that fit you comfortably, allowing ventilation and exerting no pressure whatsoever.
- Keep your feet clean by washing them daily with soap and lukewarm water.
- See a podiatrist annually.

Never ignore any foot problem. Visit a podiatrist immediately.
