When we look at a normal foot, we tend to find all the fingers descending in size after the big toe. But did you ever notice someone’s foot where the big toe was actually smaller than the second toe? That is called Morton’s Toe when the big toe is smaller than the second toe.
Causes
You might have thought that its actually not really a big deal to have all the toes of your feet in the normal descending order after the big toe. But this can lead to severe pain and discomfort.
Morton’s Toe is a common forefoot disorder that leads to excessive pressure on the ball of the foot that may cause a great deal of pain. The constant pressure that is exerted may also lead to a the problem of callus formation on the ball of the foot.
Treatment
You cant really help the size of your toes. You have been born with that size. However you can help yourself with proper footwear that has a high and wide toe box (toe area) so that it accommodates your bigger second toe.
Another good option could be Foot Orthotics that have an arch support to keep the foot aligned, and a metatarsal pad to reduce stress on the ball-of-the-foot.
Good footwear combined with foot Orthotics can go a long way in keeping your pains away.

Yes, there is a corrective surgery. However, podiatrists will usually opt to try shoe inserts first. They correct your gait by stopping your feet from pronating.
