About 40 million Americans are suffering from Arthritis. Arthritis is nothing but the inflammation of the cartilage and lining of the body joints. It may cause swelling, pain or redness.

Arthritis is the primary reason behind foot pains in most people. Feet are the most vulnerable parts of the body that can become affected by Arthritis because each foot has 33 joints.

Causes

Types of Arthritis

Osteoarthritis: The most common form of Arthritis is the Osteoarthritis wherein the excessive strain causes the wear and tear of the cartilage in the joints of the foot. This makes movement very difficult and painful.

Gouty Arthritis: Another form of Arthritis is Gouty Arthritis that causes the uric acid crystal to collect in and around the joints of the big toe. Since the big toe is the focal point due to the stress and pressure it experiences during walking and other activities, it is most susceptible to Gout.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: This is one the most crippling and severe forms of Arthritis that may cause a variety of foot problems like bunions, hammer toes, claw toes and ankle pain.
