Its summer time and its time to take your favorite colorful flip-flops out of your closets and wear them out to work or to the market downtown. The best thing about them is that they are light, trendy and let your feet breathe. Young Flip-Flop fans swear by the pros of their favorite footwear but its time they also consider the cons of the same.
Wearing the wrong kind of Flip Flops or wearing them for too long could cause foot pain now or as feet age.

Scott McKell, a podiatrist, says, “They just have no arch support or cushioning.”
He also observed that his patients who prolong the use of Flip Flops complain of a pain in the heel of the foot — stress fractures, hammer toe and bunions due to the shoes.
Douglas Stoker, a podiatrist from American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons says, “Flip-flops were not meant for walking,” he said.
The technical problem being most people have to use their toes to grip the Flip Flops while walking.
“Any shoe that doesn’t let you walk normally is not a good shoe,” he affirms.
If you still love your flip flops, McKell suggests, “If you’re addicted to flip-flops, make sure you get a good pair that have good arch support in them,” McKell said. “It makes a huge difference.”
So go ahead enjoy your summer Flip-Flopping in a cool pair of your favorite footwear, of course with a good arch-support.
