If you cant afford the luxury of a pedicure at the expensive spa. Then its better you do it yourself at home. Whether it is costs a fortune at the spa or whether it is free and convenient at home, in either case, a regular pedicure is a must.
You can follow these simple steps and have spectacular results on par with those at the spa.
Step 1: Remove old nail-polish from nails: To begin with, remove the remaining traces of the old nail-polish from your nails. Take a ball of cotton, dip it in acetone or nail-polish remover available at your nearby departmental store. Wipe the paint off your nails well.
Step 2: Cut & File Nails: Take good quality nail clippers and trim your toe-nails. Cut them straight across making sure it does not extend over the tip of your toe. You can also use Emory boards to give them an appropriate shape and smoothing the nail edges.
Step 3: Soak Your Feet: Take a big flat bottomed bowl with some warm water. Add in your favorite bath salts and aromatherapy oils. Don’t forget to add that one magic ingredient that often spas keep a secret. Add a quarter cup of milk to the lukewarm water. The Lactic acid in the milk looses dead skin.
Step 4: Trim Cuticles: After soaking your feet in warm water for about 15-20 minutes the dead skin on your feet loosens up thus making it easier to get rid of the dead skin. Take an Orangewood stick and slowly push the cuticles back where the skin meets the nail. Use cuticle clippers to trip loose skin carefully.
Step 5: Scrub Your Feet: This the part where you actually get rid of all those dead skin cells. You can use any exfoliating body or a foot scrub or a wet pumice stone to gently scrub and remove the dead cells on the heels and balls of your feet to smoothen them.
Step 6: Moisturize: Take a clean dry towel thoroughly wipe your feet dry. Take a nourishing foot cream and gently massage it on to your feet. This will provide your feet the necessary moisture and also hydrate the cuticles.
Step 7: Polish your Nails: Wipe your toe-nails with acetone to remove the traces of the foot cream from them. Then take your nail polish and carefully paint your toe-nails carefully avoiding the cuticles. If you do not wish to apply the nail polish, then you can also use a buffing stick and all residual nail, dust and dirt and make them smooth and shining.
There you go… you’re feet are ready to show off. And if someone asks you which spa has done such a wonderful job… you can give them our link.
